COVID19 & How it Affects your Wedding

COVID19 & How it Affects your Wedding

During these unprecedented times it is natural to be filled with anxiety and unsure where to go next. This is such an uncertain time where changes happen every day and really every hour. We think it is important to take time to mourn what you may be missing out on, from your bachelorette party to a coffee date with a friend.

The Wedding Jigsaw - Seating Charts

The Wedding Jigsaw - Seating Charts

The Seating chart is one of the most difficult steps in your Wedding Planning journey. It is a large jigsaw puzzle that can take forever to do. Figuring out where everyone is sitting and who will be at each table is an arduous project, we like to remind couples that the seating chart is important but it is only for the dinner. Once the dinner is over everyone will be on the dance floor and will have long forgotten who they were sitting next to or where their table was.

Winter Weddings in the Rockies

IMG_2081.JPG

There is something dreamy and magical about getting married in the Rocky Mountains in the wintertime. Whether it’s the fresh fallen snow, the crispness in the air, or the incredible backdrop for photos, winter is one of the most underrated seasons to get married!

While it may be chilly outside, outdoor ceremonies in the winter offer a quiet peacefulness that you don’t often see in these gorgeous mountain locations at any other time of the year. We simply love that couples can enjoy their family and friends without all the hustle and bustle that comes during the summer months when there are an abundance of tourists.

One of the biggest questions we receive from couples interested in a winter wedding is whether their guests will be too cold outside during the ceremony. Keep in mind that outdoor ceremonies typically last 15 minutes or so and guests know well in advance to dress for the colder weather conditions.  However, if you are still a bit concerned about the cold, here are some great ways to provide your guests with a little warmth this winter:

1.      Do you love Hot Chocolate and Baileys, Coffee and Kahlua or perhaps Hot Apple Cider? Have a station with your favourite hot drink set up to be handed out to guests on arrival to the ceremony.

2.      Have blankets that guests can wrap themselves in to keep nice and cozy. Not only will your guests stay warm, but blankets can add a decorative touch that your friends and family will appreciate.

3.      Light a fire! At venues such as Emerald Lake Lodge, an outdoor fire can be lit to stay warm or better yet, to roast marshmallows for s'mores.

Winter is such a unique experience in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and there are fantastic opportunities for your guests to enjoy during the winter months. Not only are the snow covered mountains an incredible backdrop, but it offers amazing activities including outdoor skating rinks, cross-country ski trails, and world-renown downhill skiing. But if these activities are not for you, then relax by the fire with a good book or sit in an outdoor hot tub as snow falls around you.

If you are looking to get married in a real-life snow globe, a winter wedding might just be what you are looking for on your special day!
